WELCOME TO 1ST GRADE!

                                    Welcome to First Grade!

We are so excited about this school year.  We are looking forward to working with you and your child.  Here are some things you can do to help your child have a great year.

·        Read with your child every day.  When AR begins, your child will be expected to read a book every night and test the next morning.   You won’t believe the growth that will occur because of this practice.

·        Practice, practice, practice weekly sight words, spelling words, and addition math facts.

·        Spelling, sight word, math facts and reading tests will all be given on Friday unless otherwise noted.

·         Homework will be given on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  Please check over it and return it in the homework folder the next day.

·        Please make sure your child comes to school every day unless he/she is sick.

·        Graded papers and a weekly progress report will be sent home on Monday.  Please take time to go over the papers with your child.  Then sign the progress report and return the progress report and papers.

Our chapel program will be in November.  We will send more
information at a later date.
Thank you in advance for helping us help your child.  If you need us, please don’t hesitate to call the school or send a note. We will get back to you as quickly as possible.  Working together, this year will be the strong foundation your child needs for success in school and a whole lot of fun for all of us!  God bless you and your child as begin this adventure called first grade.
